In a quest to overcome one of the biggest obstacles in her life, personal trainer and author Metra Lundy simulates a walk to freedom by retracing the steps of Harriet Tubman from Maryland to Canada. The film documents the 695-mile route that Tubman took in the 1880s.
“Citizenship in the 21st Century” with David McGlothlin: 6:30-8 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month, Jan. 13 through March 24, Truro Public Library, 7 Standish Way, North Truro. In six, 90-minute sessions, the group will briefly revisit the founding of the government and then take a longer look at the basics concerning rights and responsibilities as citizens and at the democratic principles that serve as a cornerstone of the government. There will be short readings with discussion and guest speakers depending on their availability. This series will be led by David McGlothlin, a 33-year veteran social studies teacher with Provincetown IB Schools.
